From Athens to Astoria to Laval — hi, κούκλα.

Skétos, métrios or glykós, with or without milk. Your frappé order is a personality test.

The Greek frappé, the foamy shaken iced coffee that powered generations of summers, has been around since 1957, when it was improvised at the Thessaloniki International Fair. Since then, how you order one has said a lot about you.

Σκέτος (skétos): no sugar

You’re direct. You read the terms and conditions. You have never been late to a family lunch.

Μέτριος (métrios): medium

The diplomat. You mediate between cousins, you bring a gift to every name day, and you always know where the good taverna is.

Γλυκός (glykós): sweet

You’re a romantic, and a little bit of a τσαχπίνα. Life is short and summer is shorter.

…με γάλα (me gála): with milk

Add milk to any of the above and you become the soft-hearted version of yourself. Your mother still calls you κούκλα μου in public.

One frappé should last at least two hours. That is not a suggestion.
